Many organizations rely on spreadsheets or inconsistent tools to track project hours. This often results in inaccurate data, unclear workload visibility, and difficulty evaluating project effort.
Managers require reliable insight into team productivity and progress. Meanwhile, developers and designers need a frictionless way to log time without disrupting focus.
The challenge was to create a mobile experience that makes time tracking fast, intuitive, and consistent—while delivering meaningful insights to management.
Results
TimePad improved time tracking accuracy by introducing structured, project-based logging directly from mobile devices. Research & Analysis: I analyzed existing mobile tracking behaviors and reviewed tools such as Toggl Track, Harvest, and Clockify to understand how mobile time tracking could be simplified without sacrificing reporting depth.
The research highlighted an opportunity to reduce feature clutter and prioritize speed of entry on smaller screens.
Information Architecture: The app was structured around three primary actions: start tracking, log manually, and review progress. Clear separation between team member and admin views ensured focused functionality for each user type.
Wireframing & Prototyping: User flows were optimized to allow time logging within seconds. Quick-access controls and minimal navigation layers reduced friction during daily usage.
Usability Testing: Testing focused on ease of timer access, clarity of project selection, and readability of reporting dashboards on mobile screens.
Visual Design & Style Guide: A clean, structured interface was developed with strong hierarchy and clear data visualization. The design emphasized clarity and speed, ensuring users could track time and review insights without cognitive overload.
